Elegance meets efficiency in the Outline Series. Larger projects are now much easier and faster to install because the low-wattage allows for extremely long run lengths for cleaner connections. The 48V version allows the strip to run up to 131ft in series, which is one of the longest run lengths we’ve ever offered. The superb color rendering and low-output provides beautiful illumination for general ambient and accent lighting - indoors or outdoors. The Outline Series can be used to comply with Title 24 JA8 (up to 4000K), so you can be reassured by knowing you’re using safe, reliable lighting.
Should I purchase the 24V or 48V version?
There are a few differences between the two input voltages and both have benefits and tradeoffs.
24V Input Version
Benefits: For most applications, 24V is preferred. There are more power supply options available in 24V than 48V. This makes it more compatible with dimming systems and remotes such as 0/1-10v, phone app dimming, and RF handheld dimmers. There are double the amount of cut segments for an exact fit in the installed area.
Tradeoff: The run length, due to voltage drop, gets decreased from 131’ (48V) to 82’ (24V). But this is a small tradeoff since most projects do not require more than 82’ in series (an uninterrupted connection). Power supplies for 48V input may also be physically larger because the amperage is higher. This may only be an issue if you are installing them in a tight spot.
48V Input Version
Benefits - The main benefit of the 48V Outline Series strip light is the impressive run length. Having 131’ in one continuous line is unheard of in low voltage systems - until now. If you have a long-distance run on a building parameter, long hallway for cove lighting, or in-ground walkways, this 48V version is great.
Tradeoff: There are fewer types of dimming and power options because most 48V versions do not support bluetooth-enabled dimmers. So if you want to control your lights via a phone app, handheld remote, or other similar options, the 24V version is recommended. Also, the cut marks are placed further apart in the 48V version at every 5”, rather than 2” in 24V. This means that you may have to cut the strip short of your perfect run length by a few inches.
