*To be in compliance with Class 2 and our UL Listing, the maximum run length of this strip may not exceed 26 ft (8 m) in 12V and 36 ft (11 m) in 24V. However, in terms of sheer voltage drop and reduction in brightness, the strip is able to run 32 ft (10 m) in 12V and 49 ft (15 m) in 24V which would be outside the parameters of our UL certification.
**Title 24 is regulated for lamps with color temperatures 4000K and below

Question:

Q: Should I purchase the 12V or 24V version?

Answer:

Both strips will offer the same results in terms of brightness and color temperature depending on your preference. It all comes down to power.

If you are powering the lights using a 12V DC system or battery such as some vehicle, solar, marine, or machine applications, this strip is for you. Keep in mind that the 12V version has a maximum run in series of 32 ft, so if you need a longer run and cannot run in parallel, you may want the 24V version.

The 24V version is perfect for most clients. With a maximum run length in series of 49 ft, the 24V input version will allow you to run the lights a little longer than the 12V version.

Question:

What is CRI and TLCI and why should I care?

Answer:

Color rendering index (CRI) measures how colors are correctly rendered under a light source in comparison to natural sunlight. The index is measured on a 0-100 scale with 100 being a perfect rating of color accuracy, meaning the colors appear as they naturally would under unadulterated daylight. High CRI lighting is sought out everywhere, but is particularly valuable in. The bottom line: the higher the CRI, the higher quality is the light source.

95 - 100 →  Phenomenal color rendering. Colors appear as they should, subtle tones pop out and are accented, skin tones look beautiful, art comes alive, backspalashed nad paint shows it\'s true beautiful full saturation. You have to see it to believe it!

90 - 95 → Great color rendering! Almost all colors \'pop\' and are easily distinguishable. Noticeably great lighting starts at a CRI of 90.

80 - 90 → Good color rendering, where most colors are rendered well. You may not see items as fully saturated as you would like, but most people will not notice.

60 - 75 → Poor color rendering. Items and colors may look desaturated, drab, and at times unidentifiable (cannot see the difference between black and navy colored socks).

Television lighting consistency index (TLCI), a newer method to measure color performance and accuracy, uses software to compare colors to a standardized sample on a 0-100 scale. Mainly used in production, film, and photography, it is a great tool to measure the quality of the light emitted from a source.

85 -  100  → Errors are so miniscule that corrections would not be necessary.

75 - 85 → Room for improvement. An acceptable result is easily achievable.

50 - 75 → A colorist would want to correct the errors for an acceptable result, but it would take a long time to get there.

25 - 50 → Poor color rendering needing much improvement from a good colorist, but the result would not meet broadcast standards.

0 - 25 → Very bad color rendering needing drastic improvements from a good colorist, but the result would not be acceptable.

Question:

Which power supply do I need for my (x) feet of LEDs?

Answer:

The length of LED strip lights of your project will determine the size of the power supply you need. View our Power Supply chart to find the exact LED power supply you need.

Question:

What is the product warranty?

Answer:

Because of our unyielding confidence in the quality of our product, we offer a 15-year warranty on our Accent Series LED strip lights. For more info, please read our warranty policy and learn how Flexfire LEDs have the longest warranty on the market.

Question:

What is the lifespan of your strip lights?

Answer:

Our lights have been rigorously tested and have an expected lifespan of 50,000 hours before dropping to 70% luminosity. This means that if you were to use your lights 12 hours a day, every day, the lights would be expected to last longer than 10 years. Even after that time has elapsed, the lights will maintain a brightness of 70%. Higher-output strips require a heat sink to reach the expected lifespan and beyond.

Question:

What is color temperature (CCT)?

Answer:

The color of light can be quantified by referring to its color temperature. White light is measured in Kelvins (K). Most white lights fall in a spectrum between 1800K and 6200K. When dropping below 3000K, the light becomes noticeably warmer. On the other end of the spectrum, the lights become cooler and emit a blue-ish tint as they rise above 6500K.

It is important that you choose a color temperature that compliments the style, mood, or intention of your space. We recommend using warmer tones for accent or ambient lighting while using cooler tones in high-traffic, industrial or task-specific areas. Speak to one of our lighting experts if you need guidance.

Question:

What are lumens (lm)?

Answer:

This is a quantifiable amount of light produced by an LED strip or other light-producing product, as seen by the human eye. In other words, this is one way we can measure how much light is produced. When comparing LED strip lights, you want to compare the lumen output as well as the CRI, watts/foot, warranty, and bin selection.

Question:

What is the maximum run length of the UltraBright™ Accent Series before voltage drop?

Answer:

The maximum continuous line of lighting in series is 32 ft (10 m) for 12V and 49 ft (15 m) for 24V. Longer connections are possible in parallel with the correct power unit.

Question:

Is there an outdoor option?

Answer:

Yes, we offer an IP65-rated version of the UltraBright™ Accent Series. That option comes with a silicone sleeve that encapsulates the LED strip light. It can be used indoors as well in areas that may be wet and damp.

Question:

What do I need to turn on my lights?

Answer:

As these lights operate on low voltage, you first need to purchase a 12V or 24V power supply depending on your setup. The type of power supply may vary, depending on if you want to be able to control or dim your lights with a dimming system. We recommend using our solderless Grip Connectors to make connections after cutting the strip to length if needed. If you are familiar with soldering, you can go ahead and do so to make more permanent connections, but please test your expertise on a small segment of strip before committing to solder your entire project.

Question:

How do I mount the lights?

Answer:

The 3M double-sided adhesive on the back of the LED strip allows you to install the lights in most locations. Be sure to thoroughly clean the surface to remove all dust and particulate matter before mounting the strip. Certain surfaces may require you to take additional measures to secure the strips lights into place. Feel free to call us with any questions.

Question:

Can I cut the strips myself?

Answer:

Yes, our LED strip lights are made to be cut to your desired length. Using sharp scissors, you can cut this strip every 1”. You’ll see the cut marks printed on the surface of the strip.

Question:

What is a 2216 SMD LED chip?

Answer:

A 2216 surface-mounted diode (SMD) is a new, high-density efficient LED chip. The number represents the size of the LED chips on the strip. A 2216 SMD chip measures at 2.2mm x 1.6mm. Click here for more information on LED chip sizes.

Question:

What is the importance of UL Listed?

Answer:

The Underwriters Laboratories (UL) are an independent, not-for-profit organization that focuses on evaluating products for safety certification. This means you can use and install these LEDs in commercial spaces, industrial applications and in your home knowing that these are safe products.

Question:

What is Title 24 JA8?

Answer:

Title 24 JA8 is the California Building Standards Code that sets the new standard for energy efficient lighting for residential and commercial buildings. Its purpose is to ensure the state has a healthy, safe and reliable source of energy by reducing energy costs and environmental impacts of energy use. Color temperatures 4000K and below can be used to comply with California Title 24 JA8.
